St George Randwick is a great Hockey club with a focus on family and delivering an opportunity to learn and play the game of hockey at all levels from a social sport to representative level.
The Club fields teams in the Junior competition from Under 8’s to Under 18’s age groups. Team age allocation is determined by the child’s age at the end of the calendar year. Junior club games are played in mixed teams and the Club plays in South East Hockey Association (SEHA) competitions.
Junior age teams are U8s, U10s, U12s, U14s, U16s and U18s). Except for U16s and U18s, games are played on Saturday mornings from 0800 through to midday. The u16s and U18s are played on Friday nights typically from 6.30pm.
The U8s and U10s play a modified game on half a field with a softer ball called a “Joey” ball to help develop skills and allow greater ball time for each player.
Preseason training for 2025 for juniors starts on Tuesday 4th February.
The Tuesday afternoon/evening training schedule is:
U8s and U 10s 4.00pm-5.00pm
U12s and U14s 5.00pm-6.00pm
U16s and U18s …6.00pm to 7.00pm
The 2025 Junior Hockey season commences on Friday 21 March and runs through to September. Games are not played over Easter, long weekends or during school holidays
St George Randwick is privileged to have coaches that have played at first grade level or above including for Australia. All our junior coaches have many years of junior coaching experience and hold current working with children certification.
St George Randwick encourages good sportsmanship, we play with heart and for our teammates. Spectators are encouraged to let “kids be kids” and to encourage and support effort, determination and skill,
The Club has men’s and women’s teams and truly is an inclusive and multicultural community based club. The Club has a proud and deep history having been commenced in 1927, with many Olympians and international players.
Families are encouraged to participate in the club and become part of our hockey family through social events held throughout the year.
